Colossians 4:6

Gracious Speech

Colossians 4. This morning, we're going to consider verse 6, and allow me just to read verses 2 through to verse 6. The Word of God reads, "Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving. Meanwhile, praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains. That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak. Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how … Continue reading...

Walk in Wisdom

Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains, that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak. Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

Let's come before the Lord in prayer.

Father, we ask that You would send the Holy Spirit at this … Continue reading...

Slaves of Christ

Let's turn our Bibles to the Book of Colossians this morning. The Book of Colossians chapter number three, and we'll consider together verses 18 through chapter 4 verse number 1.

Colossians 3:18-4:1: "Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them. Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord. Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged. Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the fl… Continue reading...

Colossians 3:18-4:1 says, "Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them. Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord. Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged. Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eye service as men pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God. Whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you wil… Continue reading...

The Christian Family: Children and Parents

Let us come before the Lord in prayer and ask for His help as we look at His Word.

Father, we just ask now again that You would help us to understand what Your Word teaches and that You give us the strength to obey it, to do it, to love Your law. Help us, Lord God, we pray with our struggles to understand and with our struggles to obey, and give us strength, Lord God, to not reject the truth of Scripture but to receive it as it is indeed the Word of truth. Guide us, we pray, by Your Spirit into all truth and help me, Lord, to preach i… Continue reading...

The Christian Husband (2): A Call to Care

I want us to read Ephesians 5:22-33 and also Colossians 3:19.

Ephesians 5:22-33: "Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might presen… Continue reading...

Joel 3:1-16

Why is God taking us to Court?

For a very long time - it may seem like it's been a short time that it's been here - but we were praying for this church when it was still a twinkle in Joshua's eye, when he was considering what the Lord would have him to do. And so it's been a great time for us as we've been able to send him out and watch the Lord's grace in his life, and of course in the lives of yourself as you've been ministered to by Joshua here. And we continue to pray for you, and this is at Drummoyne Baptist, the whole of us, the body of Christ there. We regularly re… Continue reading...

The Christian Husband: The Responsible Head

Colossians 3:19, the Word of God reads, "Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them."

Let's bow before the Lord in prayer and consider this text of scripture together.

Father, we come before You, Lord, realizing that You have given us Your Word to teach us and have given us Your Spirit to help us understand the things that are written therein. And so, we ask now that You would send Your Holy Spirit to open the eyes of our understanding, to draw our hearts into Your truth, to impart to us the learning, the teachi… Continue reading...
